Minor ii-v-i Licks

Here are examples of minor ii-v-i jazz licks. Note: the minor ii-v-i progression is: ii7b5 - V7 - i7. Check out the licks below:

1) This lick is from Charlie Parker's solo on "Confirmation" and you can hear this at :45 in the song.

  • There is a b9 (Bb) played over the A7 chord, and a G# approches the 5th of d minor.

2) Notice how bars 1 and 2 start out with similar motion. There is a b9 and #5 played over the G7, and there is a simple G major triad in the second half of the second measure.
